The Fono - Aotearoa, NZ
The Fono is New Zealand’s largest, Pacific NGO dedicated to improving Pacific health outcomes through health, wellbeing and educational services. Reducing health inequalities across Auckland and Northland by innovation in delivering culturally appropriate health services.
The Tamaki Vax for Love identity speaks to the objective - to promote immunisation and vaccination against COVID19 for families and young people living in the Tamaki region. One of the challenges on this project was to avoid the imagery of needles and narratives depicting physical violence. Which was popular in vaccination promos at the time. As a result the identity portrayed Tamaki College’s very own students as the superheroes of their communities, in alignment with the notion that vaccination not only protects the individual but the wider group too. The total vaccination pop up events saw tens of thousands of people in Auckland being vaccinated and ultimately contributed to the rise of immunisation and protection against COVID19 for the Pacific population living in NZ.
